Distribution

We provide extensive temperature controlled logistics services across the UK, storing picking and distributing chilled and frozen food products for delivery to major retail, wholesale and manufacturing centres every day. Products are kept at a constant temperature throughout the delivery process and distributed within an extremely short time period, meeting strict safety and hygiene standards. Our state of the art warehousing and storage distribution hub in Crick, near Northampton, is located at the very heart of the ‘Midlands golden distribution triangle’ and open 24/7. We offer a shared-user service to both the retail and wholesale sectors majoring on short shelf life, high value products - meat and dairy– chilled and frozen - to fully meet the logistics requirements of UK food manufacturers nationwide.

Warehousing

BGD's state of the art chilled distribution hub includes a 2,800 square metre chilled transit platform and 8,900 square metre ambient warehouse. In 2003, we continue to expand with increased chilled and frozen warehousing facilities - an additional 1500 pallet spaces for frozen products and up to 2000 for chilled, all fully racked and easily accessible - complementing a dedicated cross docking and consolidation platform already in operation. Utilising 24 self-levelling bays, the chilled transit platform has the capacity to cross-dock up to 8,000 pallets a week with on-site cold store temperature control monitoring ensuring a constant temperature is maintained throughout the facility. The ambient warehouse offers the very latest in warehouse management systems, utilising radio frequency technology to maximise storage procedures. BGD delivers a fast and accurate service to meet customer demands, deadlines and statutory food requirements, whilst maintaining rigorous storage and handling procedures.

Customer Service

Round the clock ‘rapid reaction’ customer service teams are an integral part of the high customer service levels we set. Teams track chilled and frozen food consignments across the UK, dealing quickly with day-to-day delivery issues and updating customers on delivery status at any given time. If there is any kind of delivery or storage problem, we know about it fast and can react quickly to it, reassuring every customer that deliveries will be met, whatever these demands are. Teams are both proactive and reactive to situations, liaising with customers at all times. Highly experienced, ‘can do’ customer service teams are another example of how we continue to adapt to on-going market and customer needs.
